The first PGA Tour and KFT Monday Q’s (there is also a Wednesday Q this week, I’ll explain why below) of the year are being held today in Hawaii and Florida respectively.
The PGA Tour Monday Q for the Sony Open will boast maybe the strongest Sony Monday field in history. A total of only 16 of the 30 Korn Ferry graduates and none of the five Q-school graduates are currently in the Sony field and most of them are playing the Monday Q.
The Korn Ferry Monday is for the Panama Championship that will be played the first week of February. There are two sites with just two spots available at each site. On Wednesday there will be another “Monday Q” held at two different sites for the Colombia KFT event. This is done to save players money as the qualifiers are played in the same area. Wednesday will also have four total spots. Stateside KFT event Monday Q’s have a total of eight spots but these events only have four.
