Carson Lundell won more than a trophy and a check at the Colorado Open. He proved he could succeed as a pro and carried that confidence straight into a Monday qualifier in his home state.

Blades Brown has made what I think is the smart decision. On Friday when the field was released for the Rocket Blades was third alternate. He would have gotten into the field yesterday. However, he WD and is playing the KFT event in Utah. Despite a 5th place last week on KFT, Blades didn’t move up (or down) any spots in points, remaining 12th. Top 20 get cards. Although he’s nearly 200 points ahead of James Nicholas in 20th, things can quickly change so smart of him to keep playing KFT.
On Sunday former West Point grad and 5 year Army veteran finished up the Open Championship after making the cut in the first Major he’s ever played. What did he do to celebrate? He got on a flight to Tampa Florida that landed at 5pm last night. “Stopped at Dicks to buy a push cart” and arrived in Valdosta Georgia at 10pm for an Australian Tour Q-school that started today. He shot -1 and is T10. I asked if he was tired and he admitted he was but then said “I love it man, nothing beats it”
Some of the comments on this post are ridiculous The dude has played pro golf for 15 years for a moment like Sunday. Meanwhile his family was back in Florida. He wants to go celebrate the biggest professional moment of his life with the people who supported him before anyone knew his name. It’s not disrespectful to 3M it’s being respectful to his family who are very much a huge part of his success. “He mAdE a CoMmiTmENT”. Yeah, he did, then he won the Open Championship and he’d like to go have a beer or 40 and hang w his wife and kids. And to be clear “he made a commitment” means he clicked a box in an app a few weeks ago, saying he was committed. He did so likely because at the time he was 59th in points and wanted to move up as much as possible. After Sunday that wasn’t necessary. 99% of golf fans didn’t care prior to Sunday he was in the 3M field but now people are mad he’s not? If you want to be mad at anyone, I’d suggest the PGA Tour for sticking the 3M w the week after the open championship. Rant over.

I’ll be on @GolfChannel at 1240 to discuss Big Break: Meet the Players and some of the great stories of the players competing on Big Break this season. It was awesome to get to know these guys. And I’ve seen the Meet the Players episodes and despite the host they are awesome.
Good Lord: Mason Glinski’s first shot in today’s KFT Monday Q….went out of bounds. But salvaged bogey. But on a course that requires players to go super low, he was even par standing on the 9th tee. And despite birds on 9,10, and 11….. He was still 5 strokes out of playoff with 5 holes to go. All he did was: 14 makes 4 footer for birdie 15 makes 12 footer for birdie 16 makes 7 footer for birdie 17 nearly chips in for eagle 18 two putts for birdie. All that and he still had to survive a 5 for 2 playoff. What does he do in the playoff? 1st playoff hole makes an 11 footer for birdie 2nd playoff hole two putts for birdie to get in. In total Glinski birdied SEVEN holes in a row to finish the day. And 10 of his last 12 holes in total. And he needed every single one. One less and he would be headed home $1500 in the hole. True #stones
